WHIP IT.

Whilst I'm on the subject of hair....I couldn't resist!

HAIR RAMBLINGS.

I apologise for my hair ramblings in advance, but its something that often plays on my mind so here goes (and expect many more to come)!

Hair. Where do I start, I am mixed race and therefore have mixed hair, something I spend endless amounts of time, energy and money trying to make beautiful. For years I left my hair curly until straightening became one of my favourite (yet detrimental) past times. Before ceramic straighteners were the norm I used....dare I say it, an Iron (as in one that irons out clothing creases). I know many of you went through this awful and cringe worthy process whilst some of you probably gasp in disbelief, but yes I used a standard clothing iron, with no towel, straight on my long luscious locks that were to be no more. That was until I discovered a straightening iron specifically designed for hair. However it never quite gave that glossy ultra straight look that my household iron did, until GHD's became popular and every girls must have. Sadly, by this time my hair had become so dry, brittle and split that I was trimming so regularly my hair was half the length.

I then began spending a vast amount of money on conditioners and hair products to bring back life, shine and length, I was pretty much a sucker for anything that promised one of those things on the label. It wasn't until about two years ago I decided to let my hair rest. I began leaving my hair curly and testing myself to see how long I could go without touching my GHD's and soon enough it became months, and to my amazement my hair grew, this along with many compliments I received meant wearing in its natural state was much less painful than anticipated.

I am still going strong and probably straightening once every two months depending on how I feel, and with regular trimming my hair is not far off boob length, hooray! However the hair episode now takes on another dilemma, whilst initially leaving my hair curly it was wavy and not so tight, but now the curls are getting tighter and tighter and my hair seems to be getting frizzier and oddly enough; dryer? I've tried different shampoos, conditioners and serums and nothing seems to be making much of a difference but one....

I know its early days and I probably shouldn't get too excited as its probably just a one off. But I recently purchased some Frizz-Ease by John Frieda. Now many of you may be thinking obvious choice? Surely it would be one of the first things I'd try? and yes it was, it may have been a good few years back but a lot of mainstream products didn't work on my hair. I now feel I have struck gold. After having washed my hair I applied a little to my soaking wet hair and much to my surprise after leaving my hair to dry (naturally as I try to miss out further drying by hair-dryers)my hair seemed a lot softer, glossier and refined with less frizz. Only time will tell after a few more tries but for any of you who may suffer from the same issues then perhaps give it a try. I have posted the exact one I have tried below.

What about you, do any of you suffer from a bad case of frizzy and dry hair? What products are you using at the moment?

LOVE.WANT.NEED

I am in love with this 'BULLET RING' by Karla Fox from the 'Cutthroat' collection. It comes in silver as well as 14k gold and consists of mini bullets that ROTATE - amazing! The gold is $1,950 (about £1225) so it doesn't look like it will be gracing any of my fingers anytime soon. But there is hope! Check out more of the 'Cutthroat' collection here
